Participation in the Decarbonisation efforts in the Steel Value Chain Event

Hilton Trollip, a researcher from IDDRI and participant of NDC ASPECTS, attended a conference from the Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa on 11 October 2023. The conference took place at the Emperors Palace in Johannesburg, South Africa, and focussed on decarbonisation efforts in the steel value chain. Hilton presented opportunities to kick-start and accelerate decarbonisation of global iron and steel via reconfiguring global production chains and an example of accelerated South African based hydrogen-DRI production for export to Europe. The event was attended by many representatives from the private sector and relates to the work on green steel that is undertaken by NDC ASPECTS.
